Pay: $65,000-$75,000

 

Position Summary: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for maintenance of plant facilities and process equipment.  This position includes supervision of the plant maintenance staff, coordination of outside maintenance contractors and procurement of supplies and materials required for maintenance activities.  A basic knowledge of Gusmer’s production equipment as well as an understanding of the maintenance personnel’s skill levels are required for success in this position.  The Maintenance Supervisor must be able to work cooperatively with staff from all departments within the organization.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervision and leadership of maintenance staff including handling daily concerns including establishing and monitoring appropriate goals to meet company needs.
  • Secure training and development opportunities for maintenance staff in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation skills to continually improve individual and department capabilities.
  • Staff maintenance department with appropriate personnel / resources and coordinate scheduling to meet production needs for equipment support and troubleshooting in a timely manner within departmental budget objectives.
  • Develop necessary documentation for equipment installation in compliance with JHA safety recommendations and determine criteria for preventive maintenance info in the CMMS in accordance with quality system documents; provide or assist with training on documents as needed.
  • Manage, coordinate and report on CMMS preventive maintenance activities to ensure all equipment is maintained routinely and timely to operate efficiently and effectively as allowed by the production schedule.
  • Maintain stock of required spare parts and supplies for plant equipment.
  • Understand operation of production and testing equipment. Ability to use diagnostic maintenance equipment.  Forklift and boom lift is essential.
  • Expands job knowledge through supplier / contractor communication, taking advantage of supplier training, assist cross functionally with other departments as needed, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

 

Other Duties

  • Assist in design, installation, and troubleshooting of new process equipment as well as assisting staff in repair and improvements of existing equipment.
  • Assist in establishing annual maintenance budgets and track budget performance monthly, identify potential opportunities for savings. Oversee the purchase of supplies and materials for the maintenance department.
  • Performs other Maintenance Supervisor duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of management or supervisory experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) Required

  • Ability to assess equipment and facility needs to identify and resolve problems.
  • Predisposition for safety in all aspects of work and a quality focus toward organization of tasks.
  • Good oral and written technical presentation skills and experience.
  • Able to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Experience with 2D drafting software preferred.
  • Experience in electronics or instrumentation and/or mechanics a plus.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, other computer programs, and technology.

 

Other Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Forklift certified

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk on normal and uneven surfaces and sit; use hands for writing and keyboarding; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, and push up to 65 pounds; stand, stoop, and bend; and hand grip up to 20 pounds.  The employee is required to use a ladder to reach high areas for performing work.  This position also requires hand coordination to operate a forklift and scissor lift. The employee may occasionally encounter uneven and/or slippery surfaces when in warehouse.

Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Acute hearing is necessary for telephone and in-person communication with customers and fellow employees, and visual acuity sufficient to read a computer screen and paper documents.

 

Working Conditions

This position typically functions in a combination of an office and plant environment; hot and cold conditions may exist depending on external weather conditions.  There may be exposure to wet/high humidity conditions during product testing.  There may also be exposure to dust from die cutting/material handling and plastic fumes from injection molding operations.  There is minimal exposure to production chemicals.
