Introduction: We invite you to become an integral member of Gusmer’s Service with Knowledge® team.  The Napa location is engaged in selling products and providing analytical services to the wine industry.  This position will provide knowledgeable winemaking advice through the proficient understanding of Gusmer products.  Responsibilities for the Technical Service Representative include providing excellent customer service to walk-in customers, inside sales representation on assigned accounts, and also assisting in analytical lab sales and activities.

Essential Functions of the Technical Service Representative

  • Work directly with customers by providing personable service and assisting with their selection of products.
  • Process walk-in customer orders promptly and accurately, works with warehouse supervisor to pull orders. Works with the customer service team to process orders that require shipping.
  • Train and back-up the laboratory staff by mastering equipment and methods in support of the analytical lab.
  • Actively participate in inside sales include proactively communicating with assigned accounts, providing technical support, and securing customer orders.
  • Help plan for appropriate inventory levels depending on the seasonality of product use and assist the warehouse supervisor with routine inventory cycle counts.
  • Become and remain proficient in Gusmer Enterprises product lines and customer processes to assist customers with technical support and help selecting the right product. Participate in internal product training.


Other Duties

  • Support lab and warehouse with housekeeping duties.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Experience in enology, production, and/or wine lab work in a college/work setting preferred
  • Formal education in enology/winemaking or equivalent experience.

  • Valid Driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Acute hearing is necessary for phone and in-person communication with fellow employees and customers.


Working Conditions

This position typically functions in a business environment with occasional trips into the warehouse.  There will be exposure to moderate noise levels, fumes, dust, chemicals, heat/cold and allergens especially in warehouse environment.
