Job Title: Cross-Flow Technician
Employment Status: Full-Time
Classification: Non-exempt
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Travel: Up to 50%, including overnight, required for training and execution of job duties
Reports to: Technical Service Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Position Summary: Responsible for cross-flow demonstrations, installations, technical service and repairs. Also responsible for technical sales which includes promoting equipment, supplies, parts, and services.

Essential Functions
• Become and remain knowledgeable and proficient in use of Gusmer Enterprises cross flow equipment.
• Demonstrate and install cross-flow filtration equipment at various customer sites.
• Repair cross-flow filtration equipment ensuring that customer needs are met.
• Increase sales through promotion of supplies, parts, service, and equipment.
• Manage and interpret customer requirements; listen to clients and use astute questioning to understand, anticipate, and exceed their needs.
• Establish and maintain positive customer relations, deal with difficult situations with tact and resourcefulness.
• Coordinate efforts with sales team and other departments and locations to provide products and services to customers in an accurate and timely manner.
• Respond to requests and provide pertinent information to achieve and maintain a positive team environment.
• Prepare customer quotes in an accurate and timely manner.

Other Duties
• Support marketing of cross-flow product lines by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned by Technical Service Manager.

Experience and Education Requirements
• Advanced mechanical skills including electrical, pumps, plumbing, and general mechanical equipment
• Min. two years technical sales engineering experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) Required
• Advanced mechanical skills including electrical, pumps, plumbing, and general mechanical equipment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Strong PLC and VFD skills
• Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or French a plus
• Professionalism and effective promotion skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse workgroup in a team environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work in an organized manner
• Self-motivated and ability to work without direct supervision
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications

Other Qualifications
• Valid Driver’s license with acceptable driving record

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit, use hands for driving and using mechanical tools, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, and push up to 100 pounds; walk on normal and uneven surfaces, stoop and bend, use hands for writing and keyboarding. The employee may occasionally encounter slippery surfaces when making plant visits.
Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Acute hearing is necessary for telephone and in-person communication with customers and fellow employees, and visual acuity sufficient to read a computer screen and paper documents.

Working Conditions
The position typically functions in a production warehouse environment and office including travel by truck, car, and plane; 50% plus overnight travel with exposure to moderate noise levels, fumes, dust, chemicals, and allergens. On plant visits there may be unique safety working conditions wherein employee is responsible to assure their own safety and communicate any unsafe conditions.
